i brought this Snap Circuits SC-300 kit over 1 month ago. i put them on high shelf. my sons (5 and 7) have been looking at the box for a long time. one day i need to do lots of house work so i took it out and they played it for hours. then i also found out, this kit is not enough for both so i had to get the extreme kit.
i love this because they can experience different kind of connections. this is a good way to stay away from tv.

My son is moderately interested in how things work and has bursts of creativity designing and building Lego projects. Both his grandfathers were engineers, so I continue to try to encourage this side of his heritage with appropriate toys.

I'm glad to have stumbled on Snap Circuits SC-300. A child can easily assemble a working gadget with these simple parts. My son was really proud to have made an AM radio. My dad used to teach a class at a church craft club in which the kids made radios. It took weeks of fiddling and fine-tuning. I can't imagine my son having the patience for that enterprise!

Because of the simplicity of the process, though, I'm not sure that my son has gained much knowledge of how circuits work. But his fifth-grade class studied circuits at just the right time, supplementing the knowledge gained through his experimenting with Snap Circuits. The booklets that come with the toy contain a lot of good information, but nothing my son has taken the time to read. Will he in the future? I hope so. I'm just happy the kit sparks his curiosity now and again.

My 9 year old nephew opened the Snap Circuits SC-300 box and within 5 minutes had completed 2 experiments and learned the meanings of open and closed circuits and the necessity of a complete circuit. The parts snap together. The directions are clear and easily followed. The pieces all fit. So far the favorite is the flying saucer launcher. In the past, the problem with electrical projects was the difficulty of making all the connections good at the same time. This kit eliminates that issue. My nephew was excited. The whole family was impressed. Wow!

My 4 and 5 year olds love it! I've tried out other circuit kits for my curious pair, but the instructions were too technical and the connections too prone to error. These instructions are easy to follow and include brief explanations as each new concept is introduced. Each piece has the correct technical symbol printed on it, so they will be able to relate this knowledge to schematics later on and, with adult supervision, these snaps work right every time.

It's colorful too, so even my 'artistic' child is excited to join the fun! This is GREAT for homeschoolers!

We bought this Snap Circuits SC-300 last year for our son who was 9 at the time. What a well made set! He still plays with it and has learned a lot about electricity in the process. There are so many cool gadgets you can make with it. The fan was an especially big hit especially when he realized he could change the direction of the fan and have it become airborne. This was the big hit for him last year, and has had real staying power.
